Each AGA demonstrator is a culinary wizard, here we learn their trade secrets. Variety is the spice of life, which is why we have chefs, ex-Home Economics teachers and housewives on the AGA demonstrator team. Everyone brings something different to the table.

The simplicity and speed, you can cook food really fast
or long and slow.
What's your best AGA tip?
You can make great sponge cakes if you warm your caster sugar on
the top of the AGA or on the warming plate before whisking a
sponge, and make sure your eggs are at room temperature too.
Comfort food on the AGA
I use lots of cream, lots of pastry and lots of
Drambuie.
Day in the life of an AGA
I show people how to grill in the top of the roasting oven and fry
on the floor of the roasting oven. Which means the food taste great
and you don't need to scrub your splash back. The AGA is the
original self-cleaning oven.
What's the best bit about your dems?
I understand that your life is hectic and show how to make some
good, quick food for family mealtimes and no effort casseroles for
a cold day.

What do you love about cooking on an
AGA?
Excluding the obvious answer (good food) I love cooking
on the AGA because it's always ready and there's no need to think
about temperatures - also no need to clean the oven
afterwards.
What's your best AGA tip?
The best tip that I give new AGA owners is to forget temperatures
and think 'time' instead - how soon you want to eat dictates which
oven is used. Anything in the roasting oven must be watched, while
anything in the simmering oven will take twice as long as usual to
cook but can remain there for much longer without spoiling.
What dems do you have coming up?
I will be doing a 'fish and veg' dem soon in Inverness to
illustrate the AGA is not just for roasts and casseroles - this
will include flavours from around the world.
The Christmas dems later in the year will show how to manage a
traditional lunch with extras. And the most important tip is to
start the turkey early and have it resting leaving the roasting
oven free to cope with the roast potatoes and all the extras which
need high temperatures
What's the best bit about your dems?
The best bit about the dems is audience participation - many hints
and tips can be picked up even from quite new owners. Also the
questions asked can be a real help to new and potential owners who
may not be at the stage when they know which questions to ask.

What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
Instant heat, a cosy kitchen, reliability, using the floor of the
roasting oven for so much cooking. No smells and easy cleaning.
What's your best AGA tip?
Get to know your AGA as you would any other domestic appliance and
then love your AGA. Go on an AGA cookery course or to a
demonstration and learn to get the most from your AGA.
What dems do you have coming up?
Cook to Impress: Sit down with a piece of paper and plan ahead and keep it simple. Make the most of local, seasonal food.
Meat-free cooking: What a chance to become inventive with all the new seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Baking: This really is easy when you know how to use your AGA and how to use the cold shelf. Don't be tempted to bake bread too near the top of the roasting oven, bake near the bottom of the oven and allow it to cook through while it gets a crisp crust.

When a customer tells me I have inspired them to try a new food or
have a go at cooking.

Enjoy and relax, the AGA is a friend. Once you discover
the finer points it becomes such an easy mode of cooking.

Something fishy: The AGA is a gentle method of cooking fish and there's no smell.
Day in the life: Do as much cooking as you can in the ovens.
What's the best bit about your dems?
I have lots of experience and confidence, I like to inject a
little humour so people are happy and relaxed and can ask
questions. I can also do demonstrations in French.

What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
Just being able to sit back and relax. The AGA looks after the
food for you and you're not clock watching - it's a relaxing way of
cooking.
What's your best AGA tip?
Use the floor of the roasting oven for baking breads and pastries,
the simmering plate for proving and then cook directly on the
floor. The baking paddle is great - you can use it to remove pots
from the back of the simmering oven or baking oven when you've
filled it full.
What dems do you have coming up?
Tours of the med: Culinary tour of Europe from France to Africa, demonstrating various styles of cooking and how the AGA makes easy holiday memories.
Vegetarian: The AGA is ideal for cooking beans. It's perfect for long slow cooking.
What's the best bit about your dems?
It's a very relaxed atmosphere.

Your AGA is your best friend, it will take care of your food in
the simmering oven and allow you to relax and enjoy your dinner
party guests.
What dems do you have coming up?
The Beginners Guide to your AGA: Make sure you bring your root veg to boil on the boiling plate, then drain off and simmer in the simmering oven - you get full flavours without loosing valuable nutrients.
The relish demonstration: When cooking a whole fish it can be placed on the grid shelf in the roasting oven, covered loosely with foil in a large roasting tin, and then let it cook for 20-25 minutes.
What's the best bit about your dems?
I cover the everyday needs of mothers in the kitchen with every
day pressures - basic, stress-free cooking on the AGA.

What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
The reliability, the AGA's always up and running and makes the
best roast potatoes in the world, plus the ovens cook meat and fish
like no other cooker.
What's your best AGA tip?
Frying any food on the roasting oven floor in an AGA frying pan,
no smells, no fuss and the hotplates are available to use for other
things.
What dems do you have coming up?
Seafood:The best tip for cooking seasfood is to use the ovens as much as possible, seafood likes the AGA ovens.
The Beginners Guide to your AGA: The tip that comes from this particular dem is that you should do 80% or more of your AGA cooking in the ovens and 20% on top.
Easy Entertaining: This is a brilliant dem, because it allows attendees to have a hands-on experience of AGA cooking.
What's the best bit about your dems?
I am a born entertainer, and there is no better way to inform your
audience than to make them laugh, feed them well, and show them how
the AGA's so much better than cookers. I focus particularly on how
clever the ovens are and how they should be used.

facets of cooking required.
What's your best AGA tip?
Popping your clothes on the simmering plate lids allows you to
give up ironing, as when you take them off they're crease-free.

Day in the life of an AGA: This dem shows you all sorts of sneaky tips and shortcuts, including brilliant ways to cook eggs.
Healthy eating: The AGA is excellent for casseroling and quick cooking. It's also great for low-fat and high-fibre style of cooking.
What's the best thing about your dems?
I concentrate on the cooker, to ensure that people learn how to
get the most from the AGA.

What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
I like the readiness of it. I love the simmering oven for risotto,
meringues and root vegetables and the floor of the roasting oven
for crusty bread, tarts cooked with raw pastry and filling in one
go, without baking blind and softening onions without making the
kitchen smell.
What's your best AGA tip?
Quesadillas (tortilla wraps with cheese) toasted on the
simmering plate, make a great quick snack, in less than 5
minutes.
What dems do you have coming up?
Pancake open days: Making pancakes is so much quicker on an AGA. You start one off in a pan on the boiling plate, then cook the second side directly on the simmering plate to finish it off. This gives them a great round shape and you can start the second one off as soon as you get the first onto the simmering plate, so it's a lot faster than normal.
Men only: Here a group of men learn how to cook a complete meal, using every part of the AGA, so they know how and where to cook each dish. In fact, it could be argued that it turns them into perfect husbands!
Fast and Fabulous Food for Busy Mums: This is a great demonstration as it shows how to get your children involved in the preparation of healthy food such as English Breakfast Frittata, Pumpkin and Rosemary Muffins and Tomato Tarte Tatin.
Desserts and Puddings: Puddings are one of my favourite things to cook and I love reviving some of our Great British puddings such as Steamed Marmalade Pudding with Cointreau Custard, Lemon Queen of Puddings, Hot Cross Bun Pudding and Apple Dappy.
The Great British AGA Baking Day: Baking is enjoying something of a revival and it's very rewarding going back to basics and showing how to bake a perfect loaf of bread, a beautiful batch of scones, a delicious fruit cake or that illusive for some, mile high Yorkshire pudding. It's dead easy on the AGA.
What's the best bit about your dems?
I hope customers pick up tips on easy AGA cooking, rather than
having to spend a long time in the kitchen, I show them all the
quick shortcuts. It's a great compliment when they tell me they
cooked all the dishes I showed them and they turned out really
well.

What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
The ease and simplicity of it, it's much more forgiving than other
cookers.
What's your best AGA tip?
It will do it if you let it, it can't if you don't. In fact
there's nothing you can't cook on an AGA.

Fish: The AGA is brilliant for fish it cooks
quickly, there's no smell, no mess and even cheap fish can taste
good.
Pastry: Even if the pastry is shop-bought, you get home made results

What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
The variety of cooking, the ready available heat, the brilliant
AGA equipment, Bake-O-Glide, for example, has turned lots of people
into great pastry cooks.
What's your best AGA tip?
Make roast potatoes, they taste so much better cooked in
an AGA.
What dems do you have coming up?
The Beginners Guide to your AGA: I cover all
aspects of AGA cooking, and concentrate on cooking all the food in
the ovens.
Fish: Cooked in the oven, AGA fish is moist. There's no cooking smells and the AGA cooks really quickly.
What's the best bit about your
dems?
I've been an AGA demonstrator for five years but have
been cooking on an AGA for 45 years, so am very skilled. And, as a
trained chef, I can safely say, the AGA is my favourite form of
cooking, nothing compares to it. Most people go away from my
demonstrations in no doubt what a magnificent cooker the AGA
is.

Demonstrator?
3 years, before that I was a home economics teacher for 25
years.
What do you love about cooking on an AGA?
It's simple and easy, hassle-free, and is very forgiving.
What's your best AGA tip?
Cook in the oven and keep the lids down to conserve the
energy. Read the AGA Cookery book, as you need to understand the
'80/20' concept of AGA cooking, cook 80% in the oven and 20% on the
top.
What dems do you have coming up?
The Beginners Guide to your AGA: This dem offers all the basic tips and explains the oven zones.
Breads and cakes: If you like baking you need to plan ahead to get the most out of your oven and use the different heat zones so as not to waste energy.
Vegetarian: My tip from this dem is to use seasonal food wherever you can, and use deli counter produce, such as sun blushed tomatoes and different oils, to season dishes.
What's the best bit about your dems?
I have a lot of experience, I teach the use of the AGA and cookery
skills. I like to use local ingredients, and my dems are
entertaining relaxing and fun. People keep coming back take on
board new ideas as well as traditional cooking - I also cater to
all tastes.

What do you love about cooking on an
AGA?
The cooker's reliability and the fact it is always ready
for anything, it's staggeringly efficient, it's the most
intelligent cooker.
What's your best AGA tip?
Find the heat and use it, so for example bring dishes up to heat
on top of the AGA, then relocate to one of the ovens - it's far
more economical and makes a huge difference and means you're
getting the best out of your AGA.
What dems do you have coming up?
Romantic dinners for two: The best tip here is to
start off with superb ingredients and a good recipe and you can't
go wrong.
Easy entertaining: Here you learn how to use recipes you can prepare ahead, so there's no last minute panic.
Summer buffets: The AGA makes an excellent barbecue.
Winter hotpot: Think ahead, you don't want to hurry the food, by slow cooking and reheating you'll bring out the true flavours, take it slow and use tenderised meat.
What's the best bit about your
dems?
I offer excellent, unusual recipes which taste delicious
and aren't to complicated. I have a good sense of humour and make
people laugh with stories about the farm and my sons, who, when
they were young, thought simmering ovens were to keep bath towels
warm in, as our bathrooms were so cold. I'd encourage anyone to
come and enjoy a dem. I love to see people go away with more
confidence and the desire to try out the recipes I have
demonstrated.

Everything, I can't imagine living without my AGA, and I love
sharing my techniques with everyone. In fact, I've just written a
book called Relaxed AGA Cooking.
What's your best AGA tip?
They all cook the same whatever fuel, there are many myths around
AGA cooking and I dispel them all.
What dems do you have coming up?
Romantic dinners for two: The steamed puddings I cook here are easy to fall in love with, everyone love the Pear and Ginger Pudding with Sticky Toffee Sauce.
Day in the life: This dem shows how you can do anything on an AGA, particularly stir-frying.
What's the best bit about your dems?
Because you don't know what you don't know.even if you've had your
AGA for 20 years, there's still lots to learn. In fact, people
learn something new at every one of my dems.

8 years. I am also a Cordon Bleu qualified Home Economist
and have been teaching cooking skills for over 30 years. I grew up
with AGA cookers and have cooked on them all of my life.

Coming down in the morning to a toasty warm kitchen.
Making tea and toast in the time it takes to put the dog out the
back door.
Always having ovens ready for baking at whatever temperature you
choose.
What's your best AGA tip?
Use the simmering oven to dry porous pottery, kindling,
breadcrumbs or to freshen up nuts or breakfast cereal.
Bake Kerr's Pink potatoes in the roasting oven for about 45 mins
- this elevates baked potatoes to a new level.
Air laundry on the rail of the AGA, and you can press napkins, tea
towels on the simmering plate lid.
Melt chocolate, warm baby food etc. in a pan at the back of the
plates - it will never get too hot.

A Baking Day: Never be afraid to open the oven doors to check on cakes because of the heat retention in the cast-iron ovens means the cakes or bread won't sink. Pastry cooked on the floor of the roasting oven is a revelation, rendering baking blind a thing of the past.
Ladies Who Lunch: Let the AGA take the strain. Prepare and plan ahead. Dishes can be successfully cooked, re-heating or holding them in the simmering oven until required. The AGA gives confidence to a busy hostess.
What's the best aspect of your
dems?
I really enjoy showing off the AGA. I'm so passionate
about it as a lifestyle emblem that I relish the opportunity to
enthuse and inspire others. The informality and friendliness of my
demonstrations usually ensure a happy learning atmosphere, which
allows the AGA performance to be first class. Everyone seems to
appreciate the social time after the demonstration, too, eating,
chatting and talking AGA talk.

My best AGA tip is never cook anything without using the
timer.

The best bit about my demonstrations is when a customer says '
that was so easy to cook and tasted so good cooked on the AGA that
I'm going to call into the shops on the way home and buy the
ingredients to make that dish for supper!'.

4 years. In addition to demonstrating at AGA Shops across
Scotland, I hold private demonstrations for individuals or small
groups.
What do you love about cooking on an
AGA?
The amazing capacity of the AGA ovens and being able to
cook several different things in the same oven at the same time,
such as fish and a tray bake, without any confusion of flavours
between sweet and savoury dishes. I also love the fact that the
cooking results are more consistent which makes you more intuitive
and adventurous.
What's your best AGA tip?
Fried eggs done on a piece of Bake-o-Glide directly on the
Simmering Plate - this never fails to impress! Lemon curd made in
the jar in the Simmering Oven - hardly any washing up!

For me, I really enjoy showing new owners how to get the
